Event Overview

Beauty is always embodied. How have philosophers and theologians thought about art, including paintings, fiction and poems? In this webinar, Dana Gioia and Margarita Mooney will discuss the renaissance, romantic, and modern ideas of beauty and works of art from each period, as well as their implications for education, culture and society. The important work of artists like Shakespeare and Coleridge, and philosophers such as Maritain and Schiller, will also be discussed. In anticipation of this exciting event, click here to read Samuel Coleridge’s poem “Frost at Midnight,” one of the works Gioia and Mooney will discuss in this webinar.
