Dr. Frederick V. Simmons & Dr. Michael Gorman on A Conversation on the Most Pressing Issues in Faith, Science and Ethics Today

In preparation for the conference on Faith, Science and Nature the weekend of February 15-16, Dr. Gorman and Dr. Simmons will discuss their ideas about the most pressing issues today in faith, science, and ethics. 

Dr. Frederick V. Simmons is the leader of the “Biology, Cosmology, and Theological Ethics” project located at Princeton Theological Seminary and funded by the John Templeton Foundation. Dr. Simmons earned a PhD at Yale University and was previously an assistant professor of ethics in its Divinity School. He has also taught at Amherst College, La Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, and La Universidad Politécnica Salesiana. Dr. Simmons has published essays on the ethical and theological significance of contemporary scientific cosmology, the import of fundamental biological conclusions for Augustinian interpretations of salvation history, and Christian doctrines of disvalue.

Dr. Michael Gorman is Professor of Philosophy and Fellow of the Institute for Human Ecology at the Catholic University of America. After completing his undergraduate studies in Christianity and Culture at St. Michael’s College in the University of Toronto, Dr. Gorman received a licentiate in philosophy at The Catholic University of America, a doctorate in philosophy at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a doctorate in theology at Boston College. His research interests include metaphysics, human nature, analytic philosophy, medieval philosophy.
