Aquinas and Thomism on Faith and Reason

Aquinas and Thomism on Faith and Reason

Is it irrational to hold religious beliefs? Aquinas thinks Christian belief is reasonable and compatible with both philosophy and the sciences. Is this view tenable in our own era? If so, how so? How can we harmonize the demands of modern science, philosophical reflection and Christian faith? In this talk, Fr. White will review how various theologians have thought about the compatibility of human reason and divine revelation, and he will examine why some philosophers have posited that faith and reason are incommensurable. If there is a bridge between faith and reason, how do we cross that bridge?
